Cool Challenges at PDP

I mentioned last week that I've been doing some challenges over at Polka Dot Plum. Well, I wanted to bring it up again because this weeks Journey Journaling Challenge was awesome. SuzyQ hosts this challenge and she comes up with some really terrific ideas to take your layouts to the next level and scrap about things you wouldn't normally consider.

This week's challenge was to journal about something in your life that you wish you had done, but didn't. I thought about this topic all week and finally got my layout done today (it's due by the end of the day!). My take on this challenge evolved to be a little different than the actual challenge as I discovered that there isn't anything in my life that I'd do differently because everything I've done so far has lead me to where I am right here, right now. My life is great and I don't want it any other way! So here is my layout celebrating that. I hope that you will join the challenges at PDP, and you just might learn a little bit about yourself in the process.

New Release Round-Up

I've been slacking in my blogging lately! I've just been super busy these past couple of weeks and I don't think it's going to get any better with the holidays coming up so quickly. Thanksgiving is just around the corner...I can't believe this year is already coming to a close. Well, enough lamenting the passage of this year and on to a more fun topic - new releases!

I've been meaning to post a note to let everyone know that The Design Girl is the guest designer this month at Funky Playground Designs! She has quite a few new kits that are exclusive to FPD. I've been working with a few of the kits. Take a look! Click the images to see them bigger and the links below go directly to the product in the store:

A Red Thread

See that last layout about Sushi? That was done with a template by Nibbles Skribbles! It's one from the #7 set. She has 2 new sets out and they each have 4 templates. She is also one of the few designers who offers the option of getting square or rectangle versions. I've just included the square previews here, but check the store if you are a rectangle scrapper!

Along with the templates, Nibbles Skribbles has a way to make dating your layouts fast & easy. It's a cute way to do a date instead of just typing it out!

PDP Challenges Rock!

I've been doing some of the challenges over at the new-ish store/forum Polka Dot Plum and they are really fun. All except the hybrid challenge are only open for a week so it's tough to get all of them done, but I did manage to get almost all of them done last week. The new ones come out on Wednesday so check them out here. By completing challenges, you accumulate points, which then translate into a % off coupon! They challenges vary from week to week so there is always something new, which is what I like about them.

Last night I finished doing this months Hybrid Challenge. I'm not really into the hybrid thing, but gave this one a try. This challenge was to digitally create a stationary set. Here's what I came up with. Full credits are here.

I made a cute little 8.5" x 5.5" paper, some envelopes lined with matching paper, and a few sticker seals with my initial on them! It's kinda hard to see in the picture, but the top says "A Note From Amber". Yay for late night photography skills! Anyway, I think they turned out great. Oh, and just so you know, when this paper size (which is half of a standard US Letter size paper) is folded in half from top to bottom it then fits perfectly inside an invitation size envelope (4.25" x 5.5"). Those are available any any office supply store, so no special envelopes needed!

I Hope that you will join in the fun! Polka Dot Plum is a really great forum and all the designers are top-notch.

If you prefer, there is a set of 6 quickpages available!

Here is a little more info on the charity you will be helping with your purchase:

Here is the text in the image:
My daughter was diagnosed with a severe seizure disorder (West Syndrome) and Cerebral Palsy at six months of age. Although she has progressed a lot more than we anticipated, she still has a lot of physical limitations. She has poor head control, no trunk control, and uses a wheelchair to get around. I believe that just because my daughter's physical abilities are limited, it should not deter her from being able to do whatever she wants to do in life!.... and playing in a playground side-by-side with other children is no exception. Since there are no playgrounds in our area that allow for wheelchair accessibility, I have decided to go about putting one in myself, because I believe that all children deserve a place to play! The park is expected to be approximately 2 acres of pure enjoyment for children of all abilities to play side-by-side. The anticipated cost of the project is approximately $800,000. I have created a non-profit organization called The No Child Left Out Project. Donations can be made at http://thenochildleftoutproject.blogspot.com,or can be mailed to 2974 S 1000 W Syracuse, UT 84075.
